| Q: You know what, I don't want to get
into a long-term commitment right now. Are there any one-day volunteer
opportunities? |
A: Yes there are! The best example is below.Habitat for HumanityHabitat for Humanity builds homes for poverty stricken families throughout the world. The bay area is no exception, especially considering the continually skyrocketing price of housing hrere. Most families, particularly minorities and the working poor, are unable to afford their own homes, depriving them of the long term personal and financial security that comes with ownership. Through Habitat for Humanity, volunteers help create affordable housing revitalizing communities, and providing qualified low-income families a path to prosperity. Given the amount of work needed to achieve affordable housing here, volunteers are always needed. Everyone is welcome and absolutely no knowledge of construction is necessary at all. Spend a day working with fellow residents to help impoverished members of the community, and walk a way with a great day's experience! |
